Sunday afternnon i fished on beat 10 and caught 3 good sized Brownies on Daddy longlegs dry it was a very
enjoyable afternoon fishing. I stopped several drippers.

Today I fished with my very old  friend Peter on the Wye at Ashford Hall I caught 4 Brownies on a LDO
dry, we had a very enjoyable day together we had our lunch in the main pub in Ashford. Peter caught a rather a large Rain bow Trout about 3lbs.

I will be on my own today, I booked beat 2 this morning and had my lunch first in the Grindleford Car Park and then waded up beat 2 and caught 3 Brownies on a Dry Large Dark Olive. I waded up beat 3 but no takes at all. It started raining but soon stopped and the sun came out it was very pleasant afternoon fishing.
I didn't see any birds of prey or ducks today.

Today I booked beat 3 and meet another club member who had booked beat 2 so we both started fishing
at about 12.30 I waded up beat 3 and caught 2 Brownies and 1 Grayling on a dry fly. when I walked back
to my car the Chairman and another club member wanted to fish beat 3 I had my lunch and then called at my
sisters house for a coffee. A very enjoyable afternoon fishing.

Today i booked beat 2 which is just above the Grindleford Bridge, I waded up the river and caught 1 medium sized Brownie, I saw two Dippers whilst fishing, it started raining quite hard so I visited my sister
for a Coffee.

On saturday afternoon I booked beat 9 when i arrived Dennis Bean was there I had a long chat with him before we both started fishing Dennis had booked beat 8 I got all my fishing gear on, and walked up the
bench and I started fishing a connected with a fish but he got off before I could see what it was. After I
made way back to my car I spotted a Buzzard Flying quite low whilst I was having my lunch. On Sunday
afternoon I booked beat 2 which is just above Grindleford Bridge. I waded up beat 2 and caught a medium
sized Brownie I came out of water and walk up to beat 3 there were quite a few rising fish but they were not
interested in my size 16 LDO dry.

On Saturday I booked beat 2, I parked in Grindleford Car Park and had my lunch I then put on my fishing gear and walked across the road and under the bridge and I waded up beat 2 there were very few fish rising
and no fish. I then waded up beat 3 and caught a small Brownie. I really enjoyed my 2 hours fishing.

 John & I carried our river Monitoring this morning on beat 6 the river was quite low but very clear we counted all our bugs and the totals were 10 cased caddidfly, 32 Blue winged olives, 32 Flat Bodied up wing,
4 Olives, 13 stoneflies and 7 freshwater shimps.

I managed to get home for 5.00 today I booked beat 3 and parked next to the hut and then got my fishing gear on and waded up beat 3 I caught a medium sized  Brownie on a dry LDO fly it was the only pull  I had.
I only fished for about 1 hour. There were lots of swallows flying about and two army helicopters passed over me very low.There were quite a few fish rising but no more catches.

I booked beat 2 today and arrived in the car park at 12.00 had my lunch and then put on my fishing gear I
walked across the road and under the bridge and there were a few fish rising I waded up beat 2 and caught
a small brownie on a dry LDO fly  I then waded up beat 3 and caught a rather large Brownie again on LDO
  There were lots of swallows I only fished about 2 hours it was very enjoyable afternoon.

Well on Friday afternoon I got home at 5.00 and booked beat 2 which is just above Grindleford Bridge,
I parked in the Car Park and changed into my fishing gear and walked across the road and waded under
the bridge to beat 2 there were a few fish rising I had a dry LDO fly on which very quickly I caught 3 Brownies just above the Bridge. I then walked up the Cricket Pitch and through the gate and waded up beat 3 there were a few fish rising but no success. I say a kingfisher fly past me on beat 3 I only fished for about 1 hour but it was very enjoyable.

I managed to get home for 5  o'clock today and got down to Grindleford Car Park to park my car I put on
all my fishing gear and waded up beat 2 I had a dry black fly on and I caught a rather big Brownie from the
the right hand side of the river. There were a few Mallard and chicks around but they soon disappeared.
I only fished for about 1 hour  and then walked up to beat 3 and had a short chat with another member of
the club.

I managed  to book beat 2 when i got home I waded up beat 2 and caught a good sized Brownie which I returned to the river. I then waded up beat 3 and caught another Brownie which broke my line.There were
loads of swallows and mallard chicks on the river. I only fished for about 1 and half hours before driving home for my tea.there was a cricket match on the Grindleford cricket area.

I started early this morning so I left work at 5.00 and managed get home for 6.30 I  quickly had my tea  then  got all my fishing gear ready in the car and then travelled to Beat 1 which is not bookable. I waded up the beat and caught a good sized Brownie on a dry Mayfly hook, after fishing I called at my sisters house to drop a dish  which she gave me on Sunday with  strawberries in..

Today I booked beat 9 I managed to park up in the car park and had my lunch, i fished for about one hour
I first off all fished opposite the bench but not fish were rising so I waded down the beat 9, and caught a Brownie but unfortunately my line broke and I lost my dry may fly as well. I do hope the Brownie gets the fly
out of his jaws.

The beats were very busy today so I booked beat 17 which is very close to Bamford Recreation Ground.
i fished the about 1 and half hours and caught 2 Brownies it is not a very big beat so I moved to beat 1 which
is just below Grindleford Bridge down to the laundry so I waded up beat 1 and caught 2 Brownies very quickly when I walked to the main road a man had missed the bus so I offered him a lift to Baslow so he came with me. I didn't see many birds or chicks this morning.

On Thursday I booked beat 9 and arrived at the River about 12.00 I had my lunch in the car then got all my fishing tackle on. Then i walked down to the bench which is one of my favourite spots. I very quickly caught
a rather nice sized Brownie on a Dry Mayfly hook I released him back in the river. There were a lot of swallows flying about and loads of Mallard chicks about. The rain  then started it then came down quite
a lot. so I decided to call it a day and headed to home.

I've had a problem with my car, the spring on the rear side had broken I got the call at 13.30 today from the garage in Matlock that my car had been fixed. When i got home I changed into my fishing gear and headed for Beat 1 which is not bookable. i made my way down to the river and waded up to wear I could see rising
fish i had a dry mayfly on very quickly caught 2 small brownies and 1 rather larger Rainbow Trout that did not want to handled the beat is very quite and a very enjoyable afternoon fishing.

Well today i booked beat 2 which the first beat above Grindleford Bridge and managed to wade up the beat
after 15.00 and fished for about 2 hours with a Mayfly dry on. I waded up the beat and caught 5 Brownies
and 1 Grayling the sun had warmed up the water and there were plenty of rises. It was one of best afternoons fishing i have had. It was a very enjoyable afternoon.

We have just returned from our holidays what a lovely time we had. I decided to book beat 9 for Sunday afternoon so i get there about 1.00 had my lunch then walked down to the bench and put on a mayfly dry
and very very quickly connected with a rather large Brown Trout about 2 and half lbs. I continued to fish
with the mayfly and caught another Brown Trout which was rather red I had not since brown trout so red before it was a similar size to the first fish. I fished until 13.00 and called it my sisters house but they were both out. The weather improved during the afternoon. When I walked back to my car the calfs were all round to gate so I walked past them and up the steps back to my car.

This morning John & I carried out River Monitoring on beat 6 we counted our sample with the following
3 Cased Caddisfly, 8 Caseless Caddisfly, 33 Blue -winged Olive, 20 Flat Bodied up wing, and 174 Olives,
and 28 Stoneflies. the River was a bit low but very clear we both had a fish afterwards. I had a Grayling on but lost it  I walked up to tell John that I was leaving and he had already caught 2 small Brownies.

Today I fishing with Rod a great friend from work on beats 9/10 we both started on beat 9 I caught a
rather big brownie on a LDO dry we than walked up to beat 10 when Rod caught a Rainbow Trout.
We then walked back down to the bench on beat 9 I decided to put on the Mayfly dry and caught another
brownie opposite the bench, the weather was very sunny and we both enjoyed our fishing today.

Today I booked beat 17 which is next to Bamford sports ground today the Sheep trials were on
I fished for about 1 hour but no fish were rising today and I didn't catch one fish. It was very noisy
with the whistles going on from the Sheep trials. I've catch fish here before but not today.

This afternoon i fished with David Marriottt on beats 8 and 9 he is a very good fly fisher man he caught 11
fish on beat 8 i fished on beat 9 and caught 1 brownie and lost one Rainbow and one brownie when i walked
down beat 8 to see David there was a Black -throated diver with seven chicks swimming acoss the river. Today i saw so many fish rising there were also lots of butterflies flying around. It was a very enjoyable afternoon.

I booked beat 9 when i got home tonight and got to one of my favourite spots and caught a good sized Rainbow Trout and  a Brown Trout in just under a hours fishing and rain came  so I decided to head to home
when walking back to my car a calf was in the wrong field but managed to get over the walk back into the right field.

After work tonight i booked beat 6/7 and waded to one of my favourite spots of beat 6 and cast across
and this Rainbow trout took my Large Dark Olive dry but unfortunate i lost it there were quite a lot of activity with fish rising but no more takes. When i walked back to my car there was a sheep which had come out of the field  some how.

I had booked beat 9 for the morning but decided to go the town so for things for holiday, I finally managed
to get to beat 9 at 15.00 the rain started and i started with a nymph but the fish were rising so i changed to a
Large dark olive dry and caught 3 grayling very quickly and 1 Rainbow and 1 Brownie. There were loads of swallows about it was very enjoyable afternoon in the rain.

Today I booked beat 17 which is next to all the children's play area at Bamford Recreation sports Ground.  I waded up the beat there were a few fish rising and very quickly caught two brownies
and lost another one. I started about 5.00 and finished at 7.00 as I walked back to my car I started chatting with a guy who used to fish when he was younger on this beat. I really enjoyed my fishing today.

John & I carried out River monitoring this morning on beat 6 on the River Derwent, the river was quite clear and very low. We counted our sample we had 10 Caseless  Caddisfly, 54 Flat Bodied up wing Heptageniidea 3 Olives and 9 Stoneflies the weather was very enjoyable.

Today I booked beat 3 for the afternoon, I parked in Grindleford Car Park put my waders on and waded
up beat 2 and caught a small brown trout on a Nymph, the fish are starting to rise but not to much.I continued to wade up beat 3 and still had a Nymph on but nothing came to take it. I decided to call it a day
i fished for about 2 hours and walked past all the sheep and lambs back to my car.

Well this morning I booked beat 2 which is just above Grindleford, as I waded up the beat I had a dipper and a kingfisher as company there wasn't much rising until I waded up beat 3 past the hut
and there was quite a bit of action with fish rising I cast across the water and a beautiful brown trout
went for my size 16 Large dark Olive dry it was 2lbs in weight. This is my first fish of this new season. I fished on until 12.00 and then walked back to my car.

John & I carried out river monitoring this morning on beat 6 , we had 148 Flat bodied up wing, 41 Olives,
8 stone flies and 1 Blue winged olive the river was slightly coloured. We are both looking forward to the season starting on Monday 1 April 2013.

This morning John & I carried river monitoring the river was quite high and a bit coloured  still if we didn't have any more rain the river would be good next week-end to fish.

We still had 51 flat bodied up wing Heptageniidea and 6 Olives and 1 caseless caddisfly.
