Monday 25th May

Been gardening and doing jobs all day decided to go on beat 6 for an hour at 15.30, when I arrived at the river there was not much rising - but had 3 brownies on a Crofts & Calvert Olive Upright called it a day when the rain started.

Sunday 24th May

Just arrived home after 2 hours from fishing beat 9/10 mainly on 9 very hot indeed - the only fish that were rising were under the cover of the trees had 2 grayling 3 brownies to Olive F Fly and Mayfly Nymph

Hi folks fished for about 2 hours this afternoon on beat 6/7 had 3 brownies on LDO and F Fly there's still a lot of water coming down and considering the warm temperature I was surprised how few fish were rising

Sunday 17th May

Been on beat 6/7 just had half on hour before the heavens opened again this weekend when are we going to get some good fishing weather. The river is in great condition. Caught 1 Grayling on a f fly before calling it a day

Saturday 16th May

Fished on beat 21 this afternoon for an hour, the river was running very clear considering all the rain. Caught 2 wild brownies on a f fly. The weather has a lot of improving to do yet - still that cool wind, called it a day when it started thundering and lightning.

Sunday 10th May

Unfortunately this is the last day of my little break, went on beat 6/7 for a couple of hours this afternoon first tried LDO with no success switched to a olive F Fly (not a Baslowfisher favourite) but had 3 brownies and 7 grayling, the temp was 14.5 but there was still that cold breeze from time to time which kept the fish down.

Friday 8th May

Well today has to be the worst conditions on the river both torrential rain and very windy, fished for about an hour around 15 00hrs nothing rising tried a nymph only got one pull- the highlight of the afternoon was seeing a Great creasted grebe with 9 chicks - the young ones are so distinctively striped.

7th May

Whilst still on holiday this week managed to get down to the river this afternoon just for 2 hours
the weather was sunny the air temperature was 15.5 but it was quite windy and that kept the fish down, had 5 wild brownies 1 on a Mayfly nymph and the rest on a LDO. Found a nest with a clutch of 6 Moorhen eggs.

Most of the River Derwent is unfishable today due to heavy rain over the last 2 days, at the top end of our club water the water is clear and very fishable, had 9 wild brownies today on LDO excellent fishing the only company I had were a pair of Grey Wagtails and a Dipper. Tight lines
